This Week at Filebase

This week, Filebase published a new Whitepaper: Diving Deep Into Filebase that details Filebase’s history, awards, and the platform’s features.

Filebase also published a new blog post this week, Building DeFi with IPFS:

The Ultimate Web3 Pocket Guide: An Interview

Earlier this morning, I did a Twitter Spaces with @macklegravy where she asked some incredible interview questions about my book. Here’s a recap:

How many hours a day do you write?

On average, I typically write between 4–6 hours a day. This writing can be anything from researching and scribbling down notes, to writing drafts for whitepapers, blog posts, and eBooks. If I’m not writing, I’m editing, revising, or formatting my writing for publication. While I was writing this book, that number was closer to 10–12 hours a day.

What was the strangest thing you had to do to write your book?

There wasn’t necessarily anything strange that was included in writing this book, but the most mundane portion was generating the QR codes for each page and formatting them in the headings for each page. That’s typically not a part of writing a book, so I guess that’d be considered the ‘strangest’ bit.

How did self publishing your book change your writing process?

I wouldn’t say that self publishing a book has really changed my writing process. I still follow the same routine flow for researching and creating new content. The only major difference was that during the writing of my book, I was very careful about potentially using assets that might be subject to copyright, like the logos of the brands and products I included. When I write blog posts or other materials for Filebase, I’m not typically concerned about whether we can use another company’s logo or not, since the content falls under copyright’s fair use policy. My book also falls under this fair use category, but since Amazon’s publishing process includes a deep, rigorous review of content prior to publication, I chose not to include any logos.

How do you envision readers using your book?

This book is available as print only for a reason. I envision readers highlighting, annotating, dog-earing the pages, and using sticky notes or other markers to bookmark pages they want to reference later. This book can be read front-to-back, but doesn’t necessarily need to be. It can be flipped through and skipped around. While it’s meant to be a pocket guide per-say, it won’t fit in any pocket at 540 pages, but the functionality remains the same. It’s meant to be a resource to have on hand to reference various Web3 technologies and products quickly when needed.

You can get your copy on Amazon worldwide, or if you’re in the US, it’s also available at Barnes and Noble.

What’s Next?

While today is an incredible achievement for me and I should bask in the moment, I’m always looking toward what’s next!

Currently, on deck for coming up next includes:

  • Putting together some resources for self-publishing that others can utilize to follow the same path that I did to self publish this book.
  • Looking toward doing other podcasts and Twitter Spaces with the awesome @macklegravy.
  • Getting ready for DCentral in Miami at the end of November! Some exciting things are in the works for this event!!

That’s all for me! Have a great week everyone!
